NO SUGAR ADDED – ERASMUS+ PROJECT

Summary of Project

Nowadays diabetes, due to its frequency and the problems it caused, appears as a prevalent health problem all over the World. Along with rapid change in life-styles in all developing and developed societies, the prevalence of Type 2 Diabetes increases quickly. Depending on mistakes in nutrition and life-styles, prevalence of Type 2 Diabetes increases among the children and the young.

It is estimated that the number of 450 million adults with diabetes in 2016 will move to 642 million in the year 2040. Thus, in 2040 one of each 10 adults is estimated to be diabetes in 2040. However, the occasion in our country is more desperate. If it progresses like this, it is expected to be the first tenth country in the world according to its population with diabetes.

With the light of these information, we have created this Project as to contribute to decrease the number of people with diabetes and to promote the awareness of people about the diabetes. Considering 7th of April is Health Day in the World, we planned to perform Project activities between 1-8 april in Mersin. Mersin is, with its economical growth and tourism potencies, one of the important cities of our country. Meanwhile, a huge step has been taken by building one of the biggest City Hospital in the World. Beside its functionality, essential informative activities will ensure to pave the way of healthier Mersin.

Through this Project, it is expected that participants and individuals in the target group will have noticed that diabetes rates reached dangerous levels in our country and the World, figure out the urgency of having measures in this area. Besides, that there is no age-limit to acquire a healthy life style and importance of having a healthy life-style to protect from health problems will be understood.

The participants and individuals in the target groups are expected to assume the functioning and importance of sustained politics and support improved politics in health area. They are expected to understand EU opportunities better, and gain positive beliefs in EU and its future.

Institutions and organizations involving in this Project will be able to perform more effective works in the area of struggling with Diabetes and adopting healthy life-styles. They will be able to benefit from Erasmus+ program more efficiently and concern with various international program. They will be able to create new national and international partnerships and projects.

Participant’s Profile

Every group consists of 5 participants between 18 – 26 years and 1 group leader (there is not age limit for group leader)

Requirements for the selection of participants:

Ø To respect gender equality and gender distribution;

Ø You must bring at least 3 participants with fewer opportunities (economical obstacles, minorities, geographical obstacles),

Ø You can bring disabled participant,

Ø We expect that at least 2 participants of each national group will have first project experience in our project.

Please, after the selection of the participants, send us the filled information form about the participants, which will be sent by us.

Financial Support

The accommodation, meals and activities costs will be free of charge, supported by the host organization through the Erasmus+ grant from European Commission.

Related to the travel grant according to Erasmus+ Program Guide, we will reimburse the travel

cost/person, following the Erasmus+ grant scheme:

  • BULGARIA – 275 EURO
  • ROMANIA– 275 EURO
  • SLOVAKIA– 275 EURO
  • CZECH REPUBLIC – 275 EURO
  • Portugal – 530 EURO

We recommend you to search for the most cost-efficient transport way (by train, bus, car, etc.) being given the distances in some cases. !Make sure that you keep the invoices, boarding passes and other documents mandatory for the reimbursement! For advice and recommendations, please contact us.

How I can come to MERSIN?

There are direct flights to Adana airport from Istanbul. You should take your first flight to Istanbul and then you can look for plans for this airport. Please ask us for specific trip plan for you. We will organize local transfers from airport till project Hotel in Mersin.
